Redwood Ventures led the seed round of Genius Foods, a company of dehydration technology applied to the food sector that allows the total conservation of nutrients, flavors, aromas, and colors in different products; as well as the development of functional fibers and vegetable protein concentrates from by-products of processes or alternative crops.

Thanks to its patented process of dehydration and extraction, the company is able to produce freeze-dried quality products at a fraction of the cost and with performance up to six times higher than other alternatives. This translates into significant savings for its main clients: food producers, industrial canteens and restaurant chains.

The company is led by Enrique González and Flavio Siller, who add their extensive commercial and biotechnological research experience in the sector. The Genius Foods team is ready to increase its participation in a market valued at more than $72 billion dollars.

"Genius Foods is a clear example of how in those sectors that appear to be more traditional there are great opportunities to make an impact through the application of technological innovations. We are very excited about the potential of the technology and to be able to support them in this stage of growth in the national and international scene". commented Alejandro Gonzalez, Fund Manager of Redwood Ventures.

With the formalization of this investment, Redwood Ventures now has eleven companies in the portfolio of its first fund, reaffirming its leadership in making investments in technology-based companies with great scalability.
